Introducing the Nintendo Switch 2

How we created the UKs pre-launch event for Nintendo's highly anticipated new console.

BRIEF

As part of a global strategy for the introduction of the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo briefed us to create and produce the London pre-launch event, one of a series of events across the globe. Our job was to identify and secure the best location, produce the event end to end ensuring a seamless experience, and staff the event with passionate and knowledgeable gaming staff.

IDEA

We started our location search identifying a space that would hold circa 1000 consumers per day, and in which we could build an in depth gaming experience.

We wanted to ensure that consumers could get hands-on with the all new console and software titles, and that they were able to create shareable experiences.

We created the UK’s preview event for Switch 2, getting over 2,000 consumers and industry attendees hands-on with the highly anticipated console.

The event itself included a large queuing area, with content for consumers to watch on a giant screen whilst they waited to enter in order to build excitement. Each attendee then had a first trial of Mario Kart World in a dedicated area, where they were met with applause from our staffing team. From here they entered the main software space where they could trial over 20 different titles across many different modes, including mouse mode and the latest camera feature.

The event included a product display area that showcased the retail packaging and numerous accessories to play at launch - with consumers encouraged to get hands on with the final product to try out the new magnetised Joy-Con function.

Consumers were then invited to collect their goody bag as they left the event.

For each of the three live days of the event we had a staffing team of over 250 that we’d recruited and trained, along with a 20+ security team to ensure that the product was secure at all times.

RESULTS

The product was trialled to over 400 media and influencers, along with 1,600 Nintendo fans over a 3 day period.

18 different software titles were trialled
